Generally, when I have gone on hikes in the US of A, they have been amazing; filled with beautiful scenery, trees, birds, animals, bugs, lakes, and tranquility.
In Israel, while we experienced all of that, we also brought a broom so that we could sweep away the sand covering a mosaic floor from a church that dated back to the Ottoman empire. We walked through a besieged village, picked fresh figs, covered our hands in prickers as we attempted to eat a fresh sabra fruit (not recommended without gloves), all the while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. Check the pictures for some incredible views.
This hike took place a short car-ride from Jersualem.
